I was so delighted to see this lovely feature in last week’s YOU magazine! Ever since I set up shop here in Cape Town I have been noticing a lot of really lovely locally produced fabrics pop up all around me. There really is no reason to have to revert to imports when we have such a wonderful selection of all kinds of different colours and styles made and printed right here in South Africa. Thanks YOU magazine for not only supporting us, but for also actually showing us just how great a selection we have to offer! See how many of our fabrics you can spot below…
I found this somewhere in the middle of cyberspace so I sincerely apologise for not crediting the person who came up with this. But it really sums up how I feel about buying local and I hope this will implore you to as well!
You can get your hands on all Handmade By Me fabrics by the metre at our online shop. We also spotted a few of our products featured in the shoot at the top of the article, our Indigo Blue cushion cover, and our Elephants Tote Bag, also available from the Handmade By Me online shop : )

You may remember a few weeks back, we invited you to the launch of a little project on Long Street called WDC 2014 POP-UP SPACE #WDC008. We are involved because we have a few of our products available to purchase from their shop which is one of the many interesting and exciting things one can find going on there. Check out the information below, along with their link, and either pop in and see what it’s all about, and/or spread the word so others can too.
“This space in 150 Long serves as a central location for the public to engage with WDC2014 projects. The space is being designed to include as many projects as possible. The inside contains a mushroom farm transforming coffee waste from Cape Town cafe’s into plant food, a shop featuring a selection of products by designers, an WDC information hub, a mobile food cafe, a mini pop-up shop offering a retail opportunity to designers and projects that don’t currently have access to retail space, and an area where people can sit, eat and work with free wifi. We have Jade De Waal doing the culinary vibes and then Department of Coffee from khayelitsha doing the hot beverages.”
And then I wanted to share this with you, my new Minty Green Mosaic Table Runner from my new range : ) has been featured in last week’s issue of YOU magazine as part of their We Love section. Hooray for new things! This item is a new design and a new product! Each table runner is 1.4m w x 40cm h and is made from a lovely thick cotton which will help transform any dining room or kitchen. You can get your hands on this one right here.
One of our favourite local online shops, We Heart This, is turning 2 this month, and so they’re having 2 super awesome giveaways with the lovely LanaLou Style blog where you can win a whole load of awesome things including our new Shweshwe Shields in Pink Napkins : ) They have put together two really lovely giveaways filled with all kinds of goodies made by their suppliers. Not to sound biased or anything, our favourite is obviously the Spring Surprise giveaway ; ) To win one these beautiful collections hop on over to the LanaLou Style blog here and follow the really easy instructions.
Handmade By Me wishes We Heart This (and the lovely ladies behind the shop, Debs and Megs) a super happy 2nd birthday, we hope there will be many more to come!
So with the arrival of our new range (and after weeks of editing photograph after photograph) we have a new catalogue of products to show the world. We are still adding to the collection of products as we go along (as you do small business style) but we wanted to show you the collection so far and see what you think!
But before you do, we have a big fat giant announcement: Handmade By Me and Visi magazine are having the biggest and best giveaway EVER!! One lucky reader can win an orange geometric lampshade and cushion cover from the exciting new range, worth R1 180. All you have to do is go to this post on their website and answer one seriously easy question!! And these two beauties will both be yours : )
And then back to our pretty new catalogue…here you go…have a look and let us know what you think and which is your favourite new design!
You can download a copy of our 2014/2015 catalogue below, and for wholesale prices and retail opportunities please email me directly.
We are also still stocking all your favourite designs as well. But we will sadly have to say good bye to a few, which you can still get your hands on quick before they sell out at the Handmade By Me online clearance sale, and/or from SAM.
Have a lovely weekend!
In order to make some space for our new range, we have decided to have a sale of some of our items which we are planning to discontinue, or keep on but as made to order in future (aprons). And we may have been slightly lightheaded when we priced our sale items, but seeing as we never go on sale, here is your one-time opportunity to take advantage of some Handmade By Me goodies for super discounted prices, and get your hands on some great gifts for future birthdays and other surprises : )
The sale is available at the Handmade By Me online shop and also at SAM (South African Market) where you are welcome to pop in and have a look. We have some great products on offer including some super cute napkins and tea towels.
Shop the online sale here.
So first of all our new range is FINALLY up and available to buy from the Handmade By Me online shop as well as our shop on Etsy : ) We are still in the process of shooting the entire range so we will be adding new products all the time as we go along, but being who we are and what we do, you can pretty much order any product in any design. So if you don’t see what you are looking for give us a shout and we’ll make it happen! We have also already had a few orders for our Design Your Own Cushion Cover, and I must say it is just so exciting to see what creative and meaningful ideas people have come up with. Click on the link below to find out more.
The new range is going to be stocked at SAM (South African Market) from tomorrow onwards so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, please pop in and have a look. And in order to make some space for our new range, we are going to be joining the rest of the designers and putting some of our older items on SALE from tomorrow evening onwards. There will be food and there will be wine so come say hi and grab a bargain.
Then just down the road on Long Street there is a new Pop-Up Space launch! This Pop-Up Space is one of the World Design Capital 2014 projects and from what I hear there are a whole lot of different things going on there, from food to products, and it will all be on show tomorrow night. We are supplying them with a few products so we will certainly be popping in to see what all the fuss is about! For more information check out their events page on facebook.
And last but certainly not least, we thought we would share this lovely feature on our reusable decorative placemats in the latest issue of one of our favourite interior mags, Condé Nast House & Garden.
