…GO!

I am delighted to let you know that Handmade By Me’s first market for the year will be The Treasury Market THIS saturday in conjunction with the Slowmarket at Oude Libertas in Stellenbosch. We have been at this lovely outdoor market before and I must say it is one of my favourites. It is on all day in the most beautiful venue, and if the weather is gorgeous you can hang out on the grass with an ice-cold beer, have something delicious for lunch, and listen to the live music and just relax. Look out for the special Treasury Market marquee where everything is handmade and beautifully selected and only features on the first saturday of every month. I myself found quite a few brilliant gift ideas last time, like the handmade superhero cape and matching eye mask I bought from Lula by Emma for my little godson (an incredibly genius idea for kids really!).

So I hope to see you there! Please spread the word, just because it’s January doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy go out and yourself just a little bit : )

The Treasury Market

But nevertheless this is a shop you don’t want to miss out on, if you’re in the area beware the lovely selection of items stocked here, you will want to take home everything!!

Looking to do some Christmas shopping over the weekend?

Well its all kicking off with 2 very festive Christmas markets in Stellenbosch this weekend where you can find all kinds of glorious Christmas festivities going on. Along with lots of delicious food to buy and fabulous gift ideas, these markets are going to get you in the mood for Christmas. Friday night the 30th November brings the Stellenbosch Slowmarket Christmas Night Market and then Saturday day the 1st December brings the Treasury Market Slow and Handmade Christmas Market, and if you are in Joburg this weekend make sure you don’t miss out on Room Online‘s stall at Collective.

“The Christmas Night Market on friday evening the 30th November at the Stellenbosch Slowmarket is the highlight of our yearly events calendar. This vintage styled authentic market has all the Christmas trimmings and we go all out in ensuring we select the finest suppliers of traditional Christmas goodies. Gingerbread houses, Christmas fruit cakes, mince pies, organic nuts, gammon rolls, German bratwurst, champagne, fynbos topiaries, décor and festive season ideas. Relaxed vintage Christmas music, coupled with a live music theatre production in the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre is most popular on the hot summer nights. Our designer goods market known as the Treasury Market will be joining us. Christmas gifts galore to fill up those stockings with handmade goods made by designers, crafters and artisans.”

“The Treasury Market is a platform for the Cape’s top emerging and established designer-makers to show off their goods and engage with their consumers in a beautiful winelands setting. Each market is uniquely curated and could include a handpicked selection of home decor items, jewellery, locally made designer fashion, accessories, vintage goods, upcycled furniture, kids stuff, ceramics, handmade shoes, paper art, contemporary crafts, and textile design.”

So hopefully I will see you all there. Please pop in and say hi if you are in the area. If you are in Joburg this weekend, my lovely stockist Room Online will be selling all kinds of awesome goodies at Collective, so if you missed out on the FoodWineDesign Fair do not fret you can still get your hands on some lovely Handmade By Me items this weekend.

Collective is a collaboration between designers and collectors converging under one roof to offer an alternative, monthly, pop-up shop. Collective includes beautiful local and international clothing designers, jewellers, ceramicists, fabric makers, furniture designers, vintage clothes collectors and home ware specialists. This is a fantastic, first-of-its-kind event. A shopper’s paradise. Come and sip on champagne, crack open a craft beer and blissfully source all your Christmas stocking fillers and treats for Summer under twinkling lights with the vista of Joburg at your feet.”

And if you can’t make it to any of the markets, here’s a small appeal thats being passed around encouraging you to buy handmade products this Christmas! I couldn’t have worded it better so have a look below and hopefully spread the word : )

Now available from…Green Elephant Collective

The full range of Handmade By Me products is now available from Green Elephant Collective. As you all know all Handmade By Me fabrics are printed onto 100% natural fibre textiles using eco-friendly dyes so we qualify to be a part of something really good which aims to really try and push the boundaries of design, while keeping in mind our current fragile climate.

Green Elephant Collective was founded by Ute Faurein, the self-proclaimed ninja, in 2011 as an online resource and shopping platform for South African made green designs and lifestyle products. We do not stock organic food or eco-friendly cleaning product stuff. Only cool green designed lifestyle products, created locally. That is it.

Green Elephant Collective’s core mission is to promote positive actions through selling great green design lifestyle goods. Just because a product is termed green and perhaps made from recycled materials it does not need to have the aesthetic aspect overlooked. That is why our focus is on quality and uniqueness of the goods we stock.”

And that they do! Even I was most surprisingly impressed with the wide variety of gorgeous items to buy! From fashion to homewares and everything inbetween it is definitely worth having a look. And there’s the added pleasure of feeling just a little less guilty if you occasionally indulge those retail therapy urges!

Its YOU again…

The cutting edge of space…

Look who made into the Home Weekly supplement of the Sunday Times this last Sunday! None other than my space rocket solar system cushion cover! Seems quite appropriate given the week we’ve had, with Felix Baumgartner managing to successfully complete his Red Bull Stratos jump. And they called it a space invader…LOVE that! Here’s a direct link to the cushion cover on hello pretty and on Etsy.

Look at the pretty bunting I made…

And now it is available to purchase from My Etsy Store, Hello Pretty and the Bay Harbour Market. There are 14 different designs in each, and each one measures over 2m in length. I can also custom make bunting for any special occasions, I can change the size or the designs, or if there is just one design you love so much you want it everywhere I can make that happen too. Chat to me about making all your bunting dreams come true : )

Here it is as a work in progress…
