Thank you

So while we frantically run around trying to get the last of the Christmas orders out, we wanted to stop and take a moment to thank each and every one of you who have supported us in any way over the past year.

2017 has definitely been the most interesting of years for us, with all kinds of highs and lows, and everything you can imagine in between. And we just can’t tell you how much we appreciate everything from the tiniest of orders in the shop, to the biggest of orders going overseas, the recommendations and suggestions, the pics and the shares, the likes, and most importantly all the love! We honestly wouldn’t be here without you. So, from all of us at Handmade By Me, we would like to say a big THANK YOU.

Wishing you all the happiest of holidays and a merry Christmas if you celebrate, and we can’t wait to see you back here next year!

Sera

Please note that tomorrow (wednesday) is the last day for any online orders in time for Xmas, but the Handmade By Me + Windowsill shop will be open until and including Saturday 23 December for any last-minute needs.

And we will be closing for small break from 23 December to 9 January 2018.

And in other news, we recently added some new products to our range. Our new double-sided LUX Panama Foliage 60x60cm cushion covers, as well as our lampshades!

We also added 2 new colour ways to our Foliage Wallpaper. Introducing Light Green and Turquoise, what do you think?

As you well know, we just love seeing what our customers do with our fabrics. Isn’t this twinset just delicious in our Foliage on Green lux panama fabric?

You might remember we were recently looking for some donations for the the S-Cape project with Lanalou Style and Studio Melissa Louise where they were given the opportunity to revamp and transform a safe house and create an uplifting space for young women coming out of trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Well done Lana and Melissa on a really great job! And pretty amazing considering you relied solely on donations!

We’re so excited to see the final result! And so happy we got to play a very small part in this really fantastic initiative.

And we love that our African Aloes tote bag made a feature in Southern Vines magazine’s latest edition.

You and me and the WDC…

You may remember a few weeks back, we invited you to the launch of a little project on Long Street called WDC 2014 POP-UP SPACE #WDC008. We are involved because we have a few of our products available to purchase from their shop which is one of the many interesting and exciting things one can find going on there. Check out the information below, along with their link, and either pop in and see what it’s all about, and/or spread the word so others can too.

“This space in 150 Long serves as a central location for the public to engage with WDC2014 projects.  The space is being designed to include as many projects as possible. The inside contains a mushroom farm transforming coffee waste from Cape Town cafe’s into plant food, a shop featuring a selection of products by designers, an WDC information hub, a mobile food cafe, a mini pop-up shop offering a retail opportunity to designers and projects that don’t currently have access to retail space, and an area where people can sit, eat and work with free wifi. We have Jade De Waal doing the culinary vibes and then Department of Coffee from khayelitsha doing the hot beverages.”

image (1) imageAnd then I wanted to share this with you, my new Minty Green Mosaic Table Runner from my new range : ) has been featured in last week’s issue of YOU magazine as part of their We Love section. Hooray for new things! This item is a new design and a new product! Each table runner is 1.4m w x 40cm h and is made from a lovely thick cotton which will help transform any dining room or kitchen. You can get your hands on this one right here.

Its all happening this (First) Thursday…

So first of all our new range is FINALLY up and available to buy from the Handmade By Me online shop as well as our shop on Etsy : ) We are still in the process of shooting the entire range so we will be adding new products all the time as we go along, but being who we are and what we do, you can pretty much order any product in any design. So if you don’t see what you are looking for give us a shout and we’ll make it happen! We have also already had a few orders for our Design Your Own Cushion Cover, and I must say it is just so exciting to see what creative and meaningful ideas people have come up with. Click on the link below to find out more.

The new range is going to be stocked at SAM (South African Market) from tomorrow onwards so if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, please pop in and have a look. And in order to make some space for our new range, we are going to be joining the rest of the designers and putting some of our older items on SALE from tomorrow evening onwards. There will be food and there will be wine so come say hi and grab a bargain.

Then just down the road on Long Street there is a new Pop-Up Space launch! This Pop-Up Space is one of the World Design Capital 2014 projects and from what I hear there are a whole lot of different things going on there, from food to products, and it will all be on show tomorrow night. We are supplying them with a few products so we will certainly be popping in to see what all the fuss is about! For more information check out their events page on facebook.

And last but certainly not least, we thought we would share this lovely feature on our reusable decorative placemats in the latest issue of one of our favourite interior mags, Condé Nast House & Garden.

Oh Christmas Tree…Oh Christmas Tree…

What better a way to end off this crazy crazy year than to show you my Christmas tree that I designed and created for Garden & Home magazine. I am so proud and honoured to have been a part of this, and it really was so much fun, both making it, and shooting it!

I would also love to use this opportunity to thank you all so very much for all the support this year! It has indeed been a crazy one, but Handmade By Me is doing better than ever, and I have lots of lovely tricks up my sleeve for next year. I wish you all a lovely and relaxing festive season, and all the very best for the year ahead.

How you can help Handmade by Me become 100% locally produced…

I have just launched a campaign to help bring Handmade by Me home and now I need your help to please help me make this happen! I made this little video to help explain my story…

Because there are tremendous upfront costs in getting my printing done locally I am asking you to help support my campaign by essentially pre-buying Handmade by Me products (which means you get something) and I get the capital I need to start printing locally. By pledging Handmade By Me’s fantastic rewards listed on on my campaign page – you will effectively be pre-buying my 1st batch of 100% local, handmade accessories and interior products from a choice of either: my current range, my new unreleased winter collection, OR a brand new, once-off custom design that can only be purchased through this project when I reach my first target.

I am using a new South African crowdfunding platform called Thundafund which essentially works like the more popular US version, Kickstarter, where I, the project creator, can set up a project, whereby if people like it, they can pledge money (buy rewards) to make it happen. The project creator sets up a funding goal and deadline and projects must reach their funding goals to receive any money.

There are free rewards, rewards to suit any budget, and I would absolutely love it if you could please share my video, share my campaign, share this post, and anything that will help spread the word will be greatly appreciated!!!

Please support my campaign and help bring Handmade by Me home!
